UEFA has selected Munich Football Arena for the 2028 Champions League final and Camp Nou in Barcelona for the 2029 edition. The decisions were made by the UEFA Executive Committee at its meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece. Munich was the only city to submit a bid for the 2028 final, while Barcelona’s Camp Nou was selected ahead of London’s Wembley Stadium for 2029.
Munich hosted the final in 2012 and again in 2025. Chelsea beat Bayern Munich on penalties in 2012, while Paris Saint-Germain defeated Inter Milan in the 2025 final. The stadium also hosted six matches during UEFA EURO 2024 and the 2025 Nations League final.
Camp Nou last hosted the final in 1999, when Manchester United beat Bayern Munich 2-1 after scoring twice in stoppage time. The stadium had also staged the 1989 European Cup final, giving it two appearances as a host of Europe’s top club final. Wembley has hosted the final eight times, most recently in 2024.
Camp Nou is undergoing redevelopment that began in 2023. The renovated stadium is expected to have a capacity of around 105,000, while its 2029 final represents a return to UEFA’s main club showpiece.
Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano is already confirmed as the venue for the 2027 final. The men’s finals therefore have confirmed venues through 2029, beginning in Madrid before moving to Munich and then Barcelona.
The Women’s Champions League finals are also set. OL Stadium in Lyon will host the 2028 final, while Cardiff’s National Stadium of Wales gets the 2029 edition. The Cardiff venue previously hosted the men’s Champions League final in 2017.
