Sachin Khilari Wins Record Gold as India Sweeps F46 Podium

Sachin Sarjerao Khilari won gold in the men’s shot put F46 at the 2026 Asian Para Games, leading an all-Indian podium with a record-breaking throw.

Khilari secured victory with a distance of 15.87 metres on his sixth and final attempt, surpassing the previous Asian Para Games record of 15.67 metres. The result also allowed him to defend the title he won at the previous edition in China.

Mohammed Yasser claimed silver with a throw of 15.06 metres, while Parveen took bronze with 14.94 metres. India therefore secured all three medals in the event.

Khilari previously won silver in the men’s shot put F46 at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. His latest performance adds another major title to his record in international para-athletics.

The F46 classification covers field athletes with certain upper-limb impairments. Competitors throw from a standing position, relying on their strength and technique to generate distance.

India has continued to build its presence in para-athletics, with athletes competing across track and field disciplines at the Games in Japan. The sweep demonstrated the country’s strength in this particular category.

Khilari’s final attempt proved decisive, taking him beyond the previous Games record and securing gold. Yasser and Parveen followed with throws that placed them ahead of the other competitors.

The result adds to India’s medal tally and highlights the performances of its para-athletes on the continental stage.
