Ajay Kumar, Ameerah Arshad Win Gold as National Shooting Championships Showcase Young Talent Across India

Army shooter Ajay Kumar won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air pistol at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions on Friday. He topped the final with 241.1 points, finishing one point ahead of Railways’ Shubham Bisla, while Haryana’s Anmol Jain took bronze at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range.

In other major results, Haryana’s Ameerah Arshad claimed the women’s 10m air rifle title after a tense final. She edged Railways’ Rajshree Anilkumar Sancheti by just 0.1 point, finishing with 251.9. Chhattisgarh’s Pranju Shree Somani won bronze.

Shotgun events also saw strong performances. Uttar Pradesh’s Zuhair Khan won gold in the men’s trap with 43 hits, securing his first senior national title. Uttarakhand’s Shapath Bhardwaj took silver, and Olympian Kynan Chenai won bronze. Uttar Pradesh also claimed gold in the men’s trap team event.

Karnataka shooters impressed across age groups. Jonathan Gavin Antony won gold in sub-youth, youth, and junior pistol events, while Tilottama Sen captured gold in junior and youth women’s 10m air rifle. Haryana dominated women’s air rifle team events, winning senior and junior golds. Tamil Nadu also secured senior and junior mixed team trap titles, underlining the depth of talent on display nationwide.
