India enjoyed a strong showing at the Asian Shooting Championship 2026 in New Delhi as Olympian Esha Singh clinched the gold medal in the women’s 10m air pistol individual event, while reigning world champion Samrat Rana secured bronze in the men’s category on Wednesday. The hosts also bagged team gold in the women’s event and silver in the men’s, taking their overall medal tally to four: two gold, one silver, and one bronze.
Esha, a Paris 2024 Olympian and Asian Games silver medallist, displayed remarkable composure in the final to finish with 239.8 points, earning her second individual gold at the Asian Championships after her 2024 triumph. Chinese Taipei’s Cheng Yen-Ching claimed silver with 235.4, while Yu Ai-Wen took bronze with 217.7. World No. 2 Suruchi Inder Singh placed fourth, and Manu Bhaker finished seventh.
In the women’s team event, Suruchi (576), Manu (575), and Esha (575) combined for 1726 to win gold.
In the men’s final, Samrat Rana scored 220.3 to win bronze, with Uzbekistan’s Vladimir Svechnikov taking gold and Kazakhstan’s Valeriy Rakhimzhan silver. India’s men’s team, led by Rana, secured silver in qualification.
The championship, featuring 311 shooters from 20 countries, concludes on February 13.
