Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated the 200 MW Solar Module Manufacturing Line of Central Electronics Limited (CEL) in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh, describing the project as an important step in India’s clean energy transition. The minister said renewable energy would play a major role in shaping the country’s future growth trajectory under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Dr Singh highlighted India’s growing focus on solar energy and domestic manufacturing capabilities. He said strengthening indigenous production of solar modules would support the government’s broader objective of achieving energy security and reducing dependence on imports.
The newly inaugurated manufacturing line is expected to contribute to India’s expanding renewable energy ecosystem and support the country’s ambitious sustainability targets. Officials noted that initiatives promoting clean energy infrastructure are essential for meeting rising electricity demand while reducing carbon emissions.
Dr Singh also emphasized the role of scientific innovation and technology in accelerating India’s transition toward green energy solutions. The project is being viewed as part of a larger national effort to encourage clean manufacturing, create employment opportunities and strengthen India’s position in the global renewable energy sector.
