INNOVATING FOR IMPACT
DR. ROGER KUMAR, MANAGING DIRECTOR AND FOUNDER OF THE CASE GROUP IS A CHARISMATIC LEADER WITH A SHARP BUSINESS MIND. HIS JOURNEY AS A YOUNG ENGINEER TO BECOMING A GLOBAL INDUSTRIAL LEADER ILLUSTRATES THE IMPACT OF PURPOSE-DRIVEN LEADERSHIP. DR. KUMAR’S SUSTAINABLE VISION HAS USHERED IN A NEW ERA OF ECO-CONSCIOUS INDUSTRIAL GROWTH, BESIDES SETTING NEW BENCHMARKS FOR CLIMATE-SMART DEVELOPMENT.
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
Dr. Kumar, a mechanical engineering graduate from NIT Kurukshetra, established the CASE Group in January 1993 to produce ‘Scale-Ban,’ a chemical-free water treatment device, and water-cooling towers. The firm, with its registered office in Delhi, corporate office in Haryana, and two modern manufacturing facilities in Bahadurgarh (Haryana), has emerged into a hub for providing cutting-edge technologies, including coal gasifiers, solar power plants, and air pollution control systems over time. Over the years, the CASE Group has developed a global presence covering India, Africa, and the Middle East. Also, by forming strategic alliances with firms in Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, and China, the leader has significantly expanded his organisation’s presence while ensuring the timely delivery of improved products. CASE Group’s portfolio presently features pioneering accomplishments like India’s first non-chemical water treatment equipment, the country’s first FRP towers for steel and power plants, and the first hot coal gasifier with zero liquid discharge (ZLD) technology. These milestones demonstrate Dr. Kumar’s potential to foresee industry requirements and provide sustainable and affordable solutions.
BUILDING A GREENER PLANET
Considering the country’s need for clean and affordable energy, Dr. Kumar emphasises sustainable energy solutions for a greener future. The country’s heavy reliance on expensive crude oil imports has driven the leader to promote coal gasification as a smart option. Also, the CASE Group’s gasifiers utilise India’s high-ash coal to produce synthetic gas, which drives steel, ceramics, and glass industries besides reducing fuel imports. These systems emit less NOx and SOx than conventional fuels, with the added option of desulphurisation for better environmental performance. With over 1,000 gasifiers in India, CASE Group’s technology offers economic benefits and reduces reliance on huge foreign exchange savings.
Dr. Kumar has also introduced carbon-capture technologies to convert coal into usable chemicals, diesel, or dimethyl ether (DME). This initiative supports the Coal Ministry’s vision of gasifying 100 million tons of coal by 2030 and also contributes to India’s net-zero emissions target by 2070. Additionally, the Group’s clean energy innovations, including green hydrogen and green ammonia, support India’s energy self-reliance besides supporting PM Modi’s push for energy self-sufficiency through the “Make in India” initiative.
EMPOWERING MINDS
Dr. Kumar holds a Doctorate in Transformational Leadership and Education. He promotes social impact by providing free YouTube-based education to students in grades 7 to 12 through CASE Group’s EXTRAMINDS initiative. This thoughtful and far-reaching initiative delivers quality education to far-flung regions, thereby enriching students, instructors, and communities across the globe. The well-versed leader is also a certified Independent Director by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and serves as the International President of the World Human Rights Protection Commission, based in New York, USA.
