The European Union has allocated €2 million in humanitarian aid to support communities affected by devastating flash floods in Nepal.
The floods have killed more than 300 people, while EU-funded partners are already providing emergency assistance on the ground.
The funding will address urgent needs including food, healthcare, clean water, sanitation and shelter for affected communities.
The new allocation comes alongside almost €3 million in humanitarian aid Nepal received earlier this year for disaster preparedness.
EU-funded partners had already pre-positioned shelter supplies and relief items before the latest disaster struck.
The EU is deploying its Rapid Response Coordinator for Asia to strengthen coordination between humanitarian partners responding to the emergency.
It has also activated the Copernicus satellite service to provide rapid emergency maps supporting local responders in affected areas.
European Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib said roads have been washed away and villages remain cut off.
She said families are still searching for missing loved ones as communities struggle with the devastation caused by the floods.
Lahbib said the additional €2 million would provide urgent healthcare, food, water and shelter to people affected.
