Finland Clinches Third Gold as Pakarinen and Konsteri Dominate Women’s Doubles

Finland added another golden chapter to its campaign at the HKGX 2025 IBF World Championships, as Essi Pakarinen and Peppi Konsteri won the Women’s Doubles final, giving the country its third gold medal. They defeated Singapore’s Cherie Tan and Daphne Tan in two straight matches, opening with a tight 181-177 victory and securing the title with a dominant 230-213 victory. The Finnish duo demonstrated exceptional consistency, defeating Singapore’s Shayna Ng and New Hui Fen in the semi-finals with a 2-0 result.

Romania celebrated its most memorable moment of the event when Mihal-Alin Dragnia and Mate Balazs-Becsi won the country’s first gold medal in the Men’s Doubles final, making bowling history in Romania.

Cherie and Daphne advanced to the final after defeating the top-seeded American team of Jillian Martin and Julia Bond, who settled for bronze alongside Singapore. The group-stage matches were intense, with Singapore defeating Sweden in a tie-break roll-off, while Pakarinen and Konsteri won Group B without dropping a match. Martin and Bond topped Group C, while Singapore escaped another tie-break with France in Group D.

The focus now moves to the Trios event, where the top 16 men’s and women’s teams will continue their championship quest before the semi-finals at Queen Elizabeth Stadium.
