India Announces T20 WC Team; Rohit Sharma To Lead, Chahal, Samson Return

India’s T20 World Cup squad has been announced with Rohit Sharma leading and Hardik Pandya as vice-captain. Rishabh Pant returns after a two-year break due to a car accident. Sanju Samson, in top form for Rajasthan Royals, joins the squad. Yuzvendra Chahal is included, but KL Rahul misses out. The tournament begins on June 1 in the US and the West Indies.

Some reports hint that this could be the final T20 international for veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The squad features young talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav. India, in Group A, will compete against arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and co-host USA.

Their first match is against Ireland on June 5 in New York, followed by the highly anticipated clash against Pakistan on June 9. After experimenting with young players following their 2022 T20 WC loss, India has settled on a balanced squad for the upcoming tournament.

India’s T20 World Cup Squad:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Hardik Pandya (Vice Captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj.
