India vows to deepen UAE strategic partnership, says EAM Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar congratulated the United Arab Emirates on its National Day and reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He emphasised New Delhi’s commitment to strengthening commercial, cultural, and people-centric ties. His speech on X also acknowledged the UAE’s leadership and expressed India’s desire to strengthen engagement across various sectors.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal attended the 54th UAE National Day celebrations in New Delhi, praising the country’s strong bilateral connection. He defined the India-UAE alliance as one based on trust, creativity, and a common goal for future progress. His words reflected the relationship’s rising strategic relevance.

Both countries recently conducted the 6th Meeting of the Joint Committee on Consular Affairs in Abu Dhabi, where they reviewed progress in consular, visa, and legal cooperation. They committed to improving information sharing, accelerating mutual legal assistance, liberalising immigration restrictions, and creating a systematic review mechanism. India commended the UAE’s assistance for its huge expatriate community, describing it as a critical link in strengthening ties.

Defence cooperation has also gained momentum, with Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth meeting with his UAE counterpart at the Dubai Air Show 2025 to discuss cooperative research, co-development, and co-production, indicating more security engagement.
