More lost 13-12 to Karumidze in a closely contested bout. The Indian had mounted a comeback to take a 12-9 lead in the second period, but Karumidze fought back to claim the gold medal.
The contest remained tight until the closing seconds, when a late step-out decision helped settle the result. India challenged the call, but the challenge was unsuccessful.
The silver marked a milestone for Indian Greco-Roman wrestling. More became the first Indian to reach a Greco-Roman final at the U23 World Championships, adding to bronze medals he won at the 2024 and 2025 editions.
His route to the final included victories over Mexico’s Isaac Marin Mata and Iran’s Armin Shamsipour before he defeated Russia’s Malik Gigiev 7-4 in the semi-final. The win over Gigiev secured his place in the title bout.
The 2026 U23 World Championships are being held in Las Vegas from October 12 to 18. More’s silver gives India a notable result in Greco-Roman wrestling, a discipline in which the country has traditionally struggled to reach the final stages of major international competitions.
