ISRO to kick off 2026 with PSLV-C62 launch carrying EOS-N1 on Jan 12

ISRO is set to begin the new year with the launch of the PSLV-C62 mission on January 12 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The launch is scheduled for 10:17 am IST from the First Launch Pad, the space agency said.

The primary payload of the mission is EOS-N1, an Earth observation imaging satellite developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation for strategic purposes. According to ISRO officials, the satellite will strengthen India’s surveillance and observation capabilities.

In addition to the EOS-N1, the PSLV-C62 will carry a small probe device called the Kestrel Initial Demonstrator, developed by a Spain-based startup. The probe will remain attached to the PS-4 stage of the rocket during the mission.

The launch will also carry 17 other commercial payloads from startups and research institutions across India and abroad. These payloads come from countries including Mauritius, Luxembourg, the UAE, Singapore, several European nations, and the United States.
