Malaysia’s business events industry is expected to generate a cumulative economic impact of RM34.97 billion by 2030, according to Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing. At Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) 2026, he said the MyCEB economic impact 2030 target reflects Malaysia’s growing appeal as a destination for international meetings, conferences, and exhibitions.
As of June 30, 2026, the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) had secured 416 business events scheduled between 2026 and 2030, with a projected economic impact of RM8.27 billion.
Malaysia’s RM34.97 billion target builds on strong performance in the first half of 2026. During this period, MyCEB secured 194 business events, attracting more than 341,000 delegates and generating RM1.81 billion in economic impact. For the second half of the year, the bureau aims to attract 493,519 delegates and create an additional RM2.63 billion in economic activity.
Since its establishment in 2009, MyCEB has secured 3,575 business events, welcomed over 4.5 million delegates, and generated RM26.7 billion for the national economy. Officials also see ongoing geopolitical uncertainty as an opportunity to attract more international events to Malaysia, with major attractions such as the Formula One race at Sepang expected to boost tourism-related activity. The RM34.97 billion projection for Malaysia’s business events underscores the country’s long-term ambition to strengthen its global meetings and events industry.
