King Mohammed VI marked the 27th anniversary of his accession to the throne with celebrations at the Royal Palace in Tetouan and received congratulatory messages from world leaders, heads of state, and senior officials.
On his Throne Day, the King reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to advancing its long-term development agenda, describing the country’s progress as the result of sustained reforms, accountability, and continuity. He said his focus has always been on serving the Moroccan people and improving their quality of life, while emphasising political stability and security as key national strengths amid growing global uncertainty.
Highlighting the country’s economic performance, King Mohammed VI said Morocco’s economy expanded by around 4.9% in 2025 and is expected to maintain or improve that pace in 2026. He also noted that the country welcomed a record 20 million tourists last year, underscoring the continued growth of its tourism sector.
The King said Morocco has strengthened its industrial capacity, with the food and pharmaceutical sectors now meeting around 80% of domestic demand. He also announced plans to expand the country’s defence and cybersecurity industries to reinforce national sovereignty and enhance its regional position.
Looking ahead, King Mohammed VI called on Morocco’s financial sector to improve small and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) access to financing and encourage greater mobilisation of domestic savings to support future development. He added that the country’s upcoming legislative elections will play an important role in continuing the reform agenda.
