The UAE captain, Muhammad Waseem, will lead his team in the upcoming triangular T20I series against Pakistan and Afghanistan, which will take place in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7. The series comes just days before the Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025, which begins on September 9 in the UAE.
The competition is likely to have a substantial impact on strategy development and team combinations. For the UAE, it provides much-needed exposure against higher-ranked opponents, allowing for both preparation and test depth.
Harshit Kaushik, Junaid Siddique, Muhammad Farooq, and Muhammad Jawadullah join the squad as new members. Among them, Kaushik awaits his international debut, while Siddique brings notable experience with 130 international matches and franchise league stints.
Regulars Alishan Sharafu, Aryansh Sharma, and Rahul Chopra continue to play major roles, while Muhammad Zohaib and all-rounder Saghir Khan round out the middle order. Head coach Lalchand Rajput emphasises the value of consistency and competitive exposure.
The UAE will begin their tri-series against Pakistan on August 30. Their Asia Cup challenge, which includes India, Pakistan, and Oman in the group stage, will require resilience and depth.
