PM Modi Congratulates India’s Triumph as Ahmedabad Named Host of 2030 CWG

India has acquired the hosting rights for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with Ahmedabad as the venue. The news was made at the Commonwealth Games Federation’s General Assembly in Glasgow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the nation on X Day, expressing pleasure in India’s expanding worldwide sporting influence and invited the world to join the celebrations in 2030. His message emphasised India’s dedication to sportsmanship and the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

This marks India’s return as host after two decades, prompting celebrations at New Delhi’s Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports conducted a special event in which Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, senior officials, Olympians, and sporting icons were present. Dr. Mandaviya praised the event as historic, crediting the Prime Minister’s efforts in transforming India’s athletic environment.

He praised India’s experience hosting big competitions such as the Boxing World Cup and the Hockey World Cup and confirmed plans for the 2029 World Police Games. He voiced confidence in India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympics. The CGF remarked that India’s bid presented a compelling concept focused on Ahmedabad and lauded the country’s preparedness. The celebration ended with a laser show, green fireworks, and the reveal of the hashtag #CWG2030InBHARAT.
