PM Modi Hails Jaismine and Minakshi’s Historic Gold Wins at World Boxing Championships 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian boxers Jaismine Lamboria and Minakshi Hooda on their historic victories at the World Boxing Championships 2025 in Liverpool. Their win marks a significant milestone for Indian boxing, as both athletes won gold medals and became the first Indian champions under World Boxing, the sport’s new global governing body.

Jaismine Lamboria delivered a stellar performance in the women’s 57kg final, defeating Poland’s top seed Julia Szeremta in a dramatic contest. Despite Szeremta’s strong start, Jaismine gained momentum in the second round, landing key punches to turn the tide in her favour. She ultimately won by a 4-1 split decision, elevating India on the world stage.

Minakshi Hooda then had an equally remarkable performance, defeating Olympic bronze medallist Nazym Kyzaibay in the women’s 48kg category. Her overwhelming 4-1 victory demonstrated her skill, resilience, and composure under pressure.

Prime Minister Modi complimented both winners on social media, calling their achievements an encouragement to future athletes and a boost to India’s growing worldwide boxing presence. He wished them success in their future endeavours and expressed hope that their triumphs would inspire the next generation of athletes across the country.
