PM Shri Narendra Modi inaugurates the Ganga Expressway in Hardoi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ganga Expressway in Hardoi, marking a major milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s infrastructure development. The 594-kilometre-long expressway connects Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh to Prayagraj in the east, significantly enhancing connectivity across the state.

The six-lane, access-controlled greenfield corridor has been constructed at an estimated cost of around ₹36,230 crore and is designed to be expandable to eight lanes in the future. The expressway passes through 12 districts, linking key regions and facilitating smoother transportation of goods and passengers.

With the new corridor operational, travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj is expected to reduce from around 10–12 hours to nearly six hours, offering a high-speed alternative to existing routes.

Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister described the expressway as a “new lifeline” for Uttar Pradesh’s development, highlighting its role in boosting logistics, trade, and regional economic growth.

The project is also expected to generate employment, support industrial development along the route, and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s ambition of becoming a major economic hub.
