Reforming Food Supply Chain
With a diverse background spanning multiple domains, Mr. Saptarshi Choudhury possesses comprehensive knowledge of business operations. After recognising a significant gap in the food supply chain industry, he took it upon himself to build a business that aims to transform the way the food and beverage industry operates. His venture, Farm to Plate does that while being simple to adapt, filling the gaps in the existing food supply chain system. It is also the first food supply chain solution that connects every stakeholder to the other and makes them part of the system.
Mr. Saptarshi Choudhury comes from a technical background. He completed his graduation in electrical engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Agartala, and then pursued his MTech from Tripura University. With a solid background in electrical engineering, he established a strong foundation in the field. He gained practical experience by working with a central PSU, a government-owned public sector undertaking in India, where he managed operations for a project valued at over Rs.100 crore. This role served as
his initial introduction to management activities within the construction industry. In those initial days in the construction segment, Mr. Choudhury encountered certain challenges. He witnessed the inner workings of the construction sector and subsequently went on to other roles. His career path took him into many areas where he gradually learned the ropes
of management. From an electrical site engineer, he went on to work as an HR consultant and slowly progressed into the business management realm. It is this diverse experience that helped in shaping his current endeavours and professional growth.
FARM TO PLATE, THE FIRST FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN SOLUTION
In 2017, Mr. Choudhury joined Paramount Software Solutions Inc. as a Business Development Manager and went on to lead the Emerging Technology vertical soon after. Somewhere around last year, he noticed a gap in the blockchain in the food supply industry. He conceptualised and started building Farm to Plate, which is the first food supply chain solution that aims to connect every stakeholder to the other and make them part of the system. They are also looking to connect consumers and farmers directly – enabling consumer food trust through transparency. The vision of the Blockchain team of Farm to Plate was to develop a product to transform the way the food and beverage industry operates.
Transparency in the supply chain is one of the key challenges and Mr. Choudhury has committed himself to address this through Farm to Plate. He wanted to build something that made a difference and yet was simple to adapt to fill the gaps in the existing food supply chain systems.
A COLLABORATIVE LEADER
Mr. Choudhury is a thorough team player and always exudes a remarkable sense of cohesion with his team. Instead of taking a dominant role, he had always actively sought inputs from his team members and tried to foster a collective working environment. In fact, he encourages his team to take charge, explore new ideas, and lead their own initiatives. The forward-thinking leader is fixated on long-term growth not only for the business but for each of his team members. Building a company and a strong resource base is a one-year plan but a long-term growth vision.
Mr. Choudhary’s leadership style also draws strength from putting long-term strategies in place. Strategising has been his core function for many years even before he started working on Farm to Plate. He connects practical experiences with analytics or research-driven approaches that he gets from various secondary sources to draw a blend or conclusion.
Mr. Choudhury likes to operate a transparent organisation that upholds an “open door policy” throughout. All employees are encouraged to approach higher management at any time to address their concerns. The flat management system enables him to run the company with trust and faith. Under Mr. Choudhury’s guidance, Farm to Plate has been steadily growing, driven by its core beliefs in sustainable growth. To him, growth encompasses various dimensions, including brand identity, recognition, and respect. He envisions a brand that stays true to its goals and commands respect from both peers and
competitors. Another crucial aspect of growth, in Mr. Choudhury’s perspective, is the
satisfaction of the company’s employees. In the near future, he aims to increase both the revenue and the size of the company’s human resources.

The venture has been pivotal for Paramount Software to achieve CMMI Level 3 compliance. It has also been ISO-compliant since the beginning. Through its supply chain disruption, Farm to Plate has been making 100
percent tracking and traceability an attainable target. Mr. Choudhury has been able to build a one-of-a-kind solution that elevates supply chain resistance and supports food safety compliance, ultimately strengthening brand trust. Mr. Choudhury possesses an untiring
passion for transforming the food supply chain industry through the strategic implementation of technology. He is driven by a vision to reshape and optimise the way food is sourced, produced, distributed, and consumed. His passion for changing the industry not only fuels his professional pursuits, but also serves as a guiding force in his commitment to making a positive and lasting impact on society as a whole.
