The UAE is set to open a new Security and Rescue Training Centre in 2028. Sahra Group is developing the facility with AMST Group.
The centre will train more than 4,500 personnel each year, who will use it to prepare for demanding missions and high-pressure situations.
Advanced simulation will be at the heart of the training. According to Sahra Group, the technology is up to ten times more efficient than conventional live exercises. It can also generate 99% fewer emissions.
The facility will include helicopter and water rescue simulators. Maritime vessel simulators will also be installed, alongside a dedicated rescue pool and fast-roping and rappelling towers.
One of its main features will be helicopter simulators suspended on cranes inside the facility. These will allow teams to train for difficult rescue and mission scenarios in a controlled environment.
The centre will also combine Helicopter Emergency Response training with OPITO training under one roof. Sahra Group says no other commercial facility currently offers that combination.
Live helicopter training can cost up to $10,000 an hour. It can also take aircraft away from active duties. Simulation-based training could reduce those pressures while keeping real aircraft available for operations.
The project is also expected to support the development of specialised skills in the UAE. Sahra Group plans to train Emirati personnel to eventually work as instructors, engineers and simulator operators.
The centre will serve organisations from the Middle East and beyond.
