UPES graduates receive their degrees with pride at 23rd Convocation

Dehradun, November 9, 2025: The 23rd Convocation of UPES, a multidisciplinary university in Dehradun, commenced today. The convocation will span five days, with separate ceremonies dedicated to each of UPES’s seven schools, providing an exclusive platform to honour students from every discipline individually. Degrees will be conferred on students across all seven schools at UPES from November 9 to 13, creating a meaningful and memorable experience for graduates and their families as they receive their degrees with pride. Additionally, meritorious students from across all schools will be awarded special medals of recognition over the five-day event.

The celebrations began on November 9 with the convocation of the School of Law (SOL) and School of Advanced Engineering (SOAE). UPES welcomed the Hon’ble Justice (Retd) Hemant Gupta, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India & Chairperson, India International Arbitration Centre, as the chief guest and Mr. Arindam Ghosh, Partner, Khaitan & Co, as a guest of honour. At the School of Advanced Engineering, Mr. Anand Ramamoorthy, MD, Micron India, graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Mr. Gopal Joshi, Executive Director, ONGC as the guest of honour.  

Speaking on the inaugural day of the convocation 2025, Dr. Ram Sharma, Vice Chancellor of UPES, remarked, “Today, we celebrate not just degrees but determination. Each graduate has turned learning into impact – building real skills, solving real problems, and showing real heart. Their spirit of curiosity, collaboration and purpose defines what UPES stands for. Together we’ve strengthened our industry connections, advanced research and nurtured an entrepreneurial mindset that is being recognised globally. I have no doubt that the Class of 2025 will lead with innovation, empathy and integrity in everything they do.”

On November 10, the School of Business (SOB) convocation ceremony will be graced by Mr. Subodh Rai, Managing Director, CRISIL as a chief guest and Mr. Lalit Aggarwal, Country Head, Schlumberger (SLB), as the guest of honour. Following that, on November 11, the School of Health Sciences and Technology (SOHST), the School of Liberal Studies and Media (SoLSM) and School of Design (SOD) will host Mr. A. S. Kiran Kumar, Chairman, Physical Research, Laboratory Management Council and Member, ISRO Headquarter, Space Commission, Govt of India; Mr. Rohit Gandhi, Editor In Chief, Emmy Award Winner, Documentary Filmmaker, Senior Journalist, Democracy News Live and Mr. Pradeep Joseph, Director, UX, Google India as the respective chief guests. 

On this occasion, UPES will also be conferring honorary degrees to Acharya Balkrishna, CEO, Patanjali Ayurved, who will be attending as a chief guest for the School of Business (SOB) and Mr. Sunil Sethi, President, Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the guest of honour for School of Design (SOD).

On November 12, the convocation of UPES Online will see Mr. Paarth Vaish, Country Head, Glencore India, as the chief guest. The School of Computer Science’s convocation will take place over November 12-13, starting with the second half on November 12. The convocation will feature Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Chief Data Scientist (EVP), Jio; Mr. Lince Lawrence, Global Cyber Security Leader, Partner & Global Leader, Cyber Threat Management, EY and Dr. Anish Agarwal, Vice President & Head, AI & Automation, Warner Bros. Discovery, as chief guests. The guests of honour expected to attend the event include Mr. Anupam Maheshwari, Director, V4C.AI and Mr. Santosh T. K., Head, Talent Acquisition, Dell India.

Through the five-day celebration, UPES reaffirms its commitment to student success, research excellence and industry collaboration, preparing its graduates to contribute meaningfully to society and the economy.
