World Government Summit kicks off in Dubai

The World Government Summit 2026 began on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026, in Dubai under the theme “Shaping Future Governments,” bringing together more than 35 global leaders and 150 government delegations from across the world. The summit focuses on evolving policy frameworks and strengthening international cooperation to address key economic, social, and technological challenges.

One main topic is economic governance, mainly how global supply chains are managed and made stronger. John Denton, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce, emphasised that tough supply chains are essential for global economic stability. He noted that increasing attention is being given to sustainability, with efforts to promote green supply chains that can drive long term investment and enable developing and emerging economies to participate more effectively in global trade.

Other important agenda items at the summit include global trade logistics, artificial intelligence, and the Belt and Road Initiative. Delegates expressed optimism that the high-level deliberations would lead to concrete national policies and collaborative frameworks.

Alongside the main summit, the World Laureates Association made two significant announcements. Roger Kornberg, Chairman of the WLA, unveiled the OPENSCI platform, an initiative aimed at supporting scientific research by creating a fair and efficient reward system for knowledge contributions. In addition, the WLA announced the launch of its new regional hub, WLA Dubai, marking a key milestone in expanding the association’s presence in the Middle East.
