$40bil investment push: PM Modi’s five-nation tour unlocks massive global commitments for India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent five-nation diplomatic tour has resulted in investment commitments and expansion proposals worth nearly $40 billion for India, according to reports. The visit, which covered countries including the UAE, Sweden, Norway, Italy and the Netherlands, focused heavily on attracting investments, strengthening strategic partnerships and boosting India’s global economic engagement.

During the tour, Modi held discussions with executives and representatives of more than 50 multinational companies across sectors such as semiconductors, defence, infrastructure, logistics, clean energy and technology. Several firms reportedly expressed plans to expand their operations and investments in India as the country continues to position itself as a key global growth destination.

India also upgraded diplomatic ties with countries such as Italy and Sweden, with agreements focusing on defence cooperation, green technology, trade and innovation. In the UAE, the two nations signed agreements related to energy security, strategic petroleum reserves and infrastructure investment.

Officials stated that the tour reinforced confidence in India’s economic growth story and strengthened partnerships in emerging sectors. The investment pipeline is expected to support India’s manufacturing ambitions, technological development and long-term infrastructure expansion in the coming years.
