India won the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 after defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The victory gave India a record eighth title in the tournament.
The team made a strong start after being put into bat. Shafali Verma scored 68 from 39 balls, while Smriti Mandhana made 59 from 39. The pair added 129 runs for the first wicket, the highest opening partnership in Women’s T20 Asia Cup history.
Shafali reached her half-century from just 24 balls. That became the fastest fifty in Women’s T20 Asia Cup history, beating the previous record of 25 balls held by Mandhana in 2022.
India finished on 183/5 before their bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to 111 all out. Shree Charani took four wickets for 20 runs, while Deepti Sharma claimed three wickets as Sri Lanka’s chase lost momentum.
The title completed an unbeaten campaign for India. The team had already defeated Bangladesh by 40 runs in the semi-final after scoring 149/6 and restricting Bangladesh to 109/7.
India had also topped their group with three wins from three matches. Their victories included a 94-run win over Thailand and a seven-wicket win over Pakistan.
Sri Lanka had won the 2024 edition, but India regained the title two years later. India’s eighth championship is now the highest total in the history of the Women’s Asia Cup.
