Abhishek Sharma has made cricket history by earning the highest-ever rating points in men’s T20I batting rankings. Following a brilliant Asia Cup 2025 campaign in which he scored 314 runs in seven matches and was awarded Player of the Tournament, the left-handed opener set a record of 931 rating points, exceeding all previous benchmarks in the format.
Since his debut in 2024, Abhishek has been one of the most dominant players in international cricket. In just 15 months, he has scored 849 runs with a strike rate close to 200. His two centuries, combined with continuous match-winning performances, have elevated him to a standout figure in India’s batting order and served as an inspiration to opening batters around the world.
The new record exceeds the previous high of 919 points recorded by England’s Dawid Malan in 2020. Abhishek also surpassed former Indian stars Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli, who posted career-high scores of 912 and 909, respectively. He presently leads Phil Salt in second position, with Tilak Varma in third following his strong Asia Cup performance.
According to reports, Abhishek may soon be considered for India’s ODI squad, further cementing his status as one of the brightest talents in international cricket.
