India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the inaugural Women’s Blind T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place from November 11 to 23, 2025. The tournament represents a historic moment in international cricket, showcasing inclusive sports on a global stage. Teams from India, Sri Lanka, Australia, England, Nepal, Pakistan, and the United States will compete in this landmark championship.
The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) is organising the event in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Cricket Association for the Visually Handicapped. Matches will begin in India, with New Delhi hosting the opening ceremony and the first five matches from November 11 to 13. Bangalore will host four games from November 14 to 16, following which the event will move to Sri Lanka, where 15 matches are scheduled till November 23.
The competition was officially launched at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo, under the patronage of Sri Lanka’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage. Addressing the gathering, the minister emphasised that categorising people based on disability is wrong, and he urged for more respectful language. He informed the Sri Lankan squad that the government will fully assist them.
