Danielle Collins Clinches The WTA Charleston Open Title With A Straight-Set Victory

American tennis player Danielle Collins secured the WTA Charleston Open clay court title with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory over Russia’s Daria Kasatkina. After her Miami Open win, which boosted her career-best ranking to 15, this win comes as a welcome follow-up. Additionally, the 30-year-old Collins is currently riding a remarkable 13-match winning streak.

In her showdown against former Charleston champion Kasatkina, Collins showcased her dominance, needing a mere 77 minutes to seal the win.

Collins’s commanding play, in which she won an impressive 95.2% of first-serve points and saved both break points against her, contributed to her victory. Throughout her last two tournaments, she only dropped two sets out of 28 matches.

This achievement places her in an elite category, as she becomes the first player since Serena Williams in 2013 to capture both the Miami and Charleston titles in the same year. Her stellar season, comprising 22 wins, sees her join the ranks of top players like Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina.

Collins’s recent string of successes underscores her resurgence in the tennis world, cementing her status as a formidable force on the court.
