Deepika Kumari, an Indian archer, won silver in the women’s recurve event at the Archery World Cup Final 2024 in Tlaxcala, Mexico. Deepika lost 0-6 in the final to China’s Li Jiaman, who was part of the silver-medal-winning team at the Paris Olympics.
The prestigious competition featured eight archers competing in the men’s and women’s solo recurve and archery categories. Deepika started her campaign with a 6-0 win over China’s Yang Xiaolei in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, she defeated Mexico’s Alejandra Valencia 6-4, who had a mixed team bronze medal from Tokyo 2020 and a women’s team bronze from Paris 2024.
Deepika Kumari, 30, won an amazing six World Cup Final medals—five silver and one bronze. She won silver medals in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2024, as well as bronze in 2018.
Deepika qualified for the final based on her strong performance in the 2024 World Cup series standings. Earlier this year, she won silver in the Shanghai World Cup. She also competed in the women’s individual and team events at the Paris Olympics, alongside Bhajan Kaur and Ankita Bhakat, and advanced to the quarterfinals in both.
