India’s Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, held talks with the Commander of the UAE Land Forces, Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, on Monday to strengthen defence cooperation between India and the United Arab Emirates. The discussions focused on improving military engagement, training cooperation, and expanding ties across key defence areas.

The interaction took place during General Dwivedi’s official visit to the UAE. According to the Indian Army, the talks aimed at deepening strategic relations and promoting closer military-to-military cooperation. During the visit, the Army Chief also toured the UAE Land Forces Museum, where he was briefed on the history and military traditions of the UAE.

Earlier, General Dwivedi met India’s Ambassador to the UAE, Deepak Mittal. Their discussions centred on enhancing overall India–UAE bilateral relations, with a special focus on defence diplomacy and strategic engagement.

As part of his visit, the Chief of Army Staff is scheduled to meet senior leaders of the UAE Armed Forces and receive briefings on the structure and capabilities of the UAE Army. He will also interact with officers and troops and visit the UAE National Defence College to address officers.

After concluding his UAE visit, General Dwivedi will travel to Sri Lanka from January 7 to 8. There, he will meet senior military and civil leaders to discuss training cooperation, capacity building, and regional security.
