India Wins Two Silver Medals at Aichi Nagoya Asian Games

India won silver medals in the mixed 4x400m relay and women’s 60kg wushu at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on September 24. The two medals came during a day that also saw India win bronze in the women’s 10,000m event.

The mixed relay team of Poovamma Raju, Vishal Thennarasu, Vithya Ramraj and Manu TS finished second in 3:14.46. Bahrain won the gold medal in a Games-record time of 3:12.87, while India matched its silver-medal finish from the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou.

India’s other silver came from Roshibina Devi Naorem in the women’s 60kg Sanda event. She lost 0-2 to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final. The result gave Roshibina her third Asian Games medal after winning silver at Hangzhou and bronze at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.

The relay result was India’s first athletics medal of the Aichi-Nagoya Games. The team’s time of 3:14.46 placed it ahead of the other finalists but behind Bahrain, which set a new Games record in the event.

India also added medals in other disciplines on the same day. Seema Kumari won bronze in the women’s 10,000m, while Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal secured bronze in the mixed skeet team event.

The mixed relay silver and Roshibina’s wushu medal added to India’s medal tally as the country continued its campaign across sports at the Games.
