India’s Exports to BRICS Markets Rise 34% to $19.9 Billion

India’s exports to China, South Africa, Brazil and Russia rose 34 per cent to $19.9 billion during April-August 2026-27, compared with $14.9 billion in the same period a year earlier, according to Commerce Ministry data.

China accounted for the largest share, with Indian exports to the country rising 39 per cent to $9.6 billion during the first five months of the financial year. South Africa recorded the fastest growth, with exports climbing 58 per cent. Shipments to Brazil increased 13 per cent, while those to Russia rose 11 per cent.

The four markets also made up a larger share of India’s overall exports during the period. Their combined share rose to 9.2 per cent in April-August, compared with 8.1 per cent during the corresponding period of 2025-26.

India’s exports to the wider 11-member BRICS grouping also recorded growth. Commerce Ministry data showed shipments to the bloc rose 13 per cent to $34.5 billion, up from $30.5 billion a year earlier. The figures for the wider grouping cover a different period from the April-August data for the four core markets.

The latest figures come after India hosted the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. BRICS was initially formed by Brazil, Russia, India and China, with South Africa joining the grouping in 2010 before it expanded further.
