Hero Esports Launches CyberHero, World’s First Humanoid Robot Sports League

Hero Esports has launched CyberHero, described by the company as the world’s first global humanoid robot sports league, with its first event held in Riyadh on September 9. The launch took place at Boulevard City and featured humanoid robots competing in a combat format.

The inaugural CyberHero event featured EngineAI T800 humanoid robots in a purpose-built arena. The machines are designed to perform movements including walking, running, punching and kicking, bringing physical AI into a live sporting environment.

Hero Esports plans to take the league beyond Saudi Arabia, with an inaugural season scheduled to span eight cities across four regions. Two of those stops are planned for the Middle East, while the wider circuit is expected to include venues in Europe, the Americas and Asia.

The Riyadh event was also the Middle East’s first humanoid robot combat competition. Ten EngineAI T800 robots were featured in the showcase, according to Hero Esports.

The company describes CyberHero as a platform for testing the capabilities of humanoid robots through competition. The league is intended to explore how robots can operate in physical environments while generating data that can support further development of robotics and artificial intelligence.

The launch adds a new format to Riyadh’s growing calendar of technology and entertainment events. Hero Esports says the league will expand its disciplines as humanoid robot capabilities develop, with the eight-city season forming the first stage of its international rollout.
