IOC’s “Let’s Move?” Campaign Marks Active Celebrations for Olympic Day 2025

International Olympic Day 2025 is observed annually on June 23 to commemorate the establishment of the International Olympic Committee by Baron Pierre de Coubertin in 1894. The day, which was first introduced by nine countries in 1948, currently engages communities throughout the world in events that celebrate sports, fitness, and unity.

This year’s theme, “Let’s Move?” is a joint effort between the IOC and the World Health Organisation to combat physical inactivity by encouraging group activities including walking, running, dancing, and playing. Many national Olympic committees and organisations encouraged citizens to invite a “+1″—a friend or family member—to participate in the physical activity program. In India, the phrase has been localised as “Let’s Move +1, India!” ahead of the Paris Summer Olympics.

International Olympic Day is often marked by mass participation events such as races, fitness classes, yoga sessions, dance challenges, and educational programs on Olympic history and values. Access to public sports facilities is frequently provided for free in order to promote inclusivity and community involvement. Digital initiatives and social media outreach increase awareness of the day’s objectives.
