Manu Bhaker, Simranpreet Kaur Brar clinch 25m pistol gold at National Shooting Championships

Manu Bhaker, a double Olympic medallist, and rising junior star Simranpreet Kaur Brar had commanding performances to win gold medals in the women’s 25m sports pistol categories at the 68th National Shooting Championships in New Delhi. Competing at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, Bhaker showed consistency under pressure to win the senior title with a final score of 36. She finished comfortably ahead of Karnataka’s Divya T.S., who settled for silver, and Anjali Choudhary won bronze after a consistent performance.

Bhaker had previously qualified fourth for the final but improved her performance when it counted the most, defeating higher-ranked shooters from the qualification round. Divya led the qualifiers, followed closely by Anjali and Annu Raj Singh, highlighting the field’s competitive depth.

Simranpreet continued her great season in the junior women’s category, winning the gold medal with ease. She won the final with a score of 39, cementing her status as one of India’s most promising young pistol shooters. Dwaram Pranavi won silver, and Palak of Haryana finished third.

Maharashtra won gold in the senior women’s team competition, with the Army Marksmanship Unit and Haryana rounding out the podium. Championship activity continues, with further finals slated in New Delhi and Bhopal.
