At a press conference in Mumbai, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, describing him as the most popular and visionary leader with global recognition. Goyal, who represents North Mumbai, wished the Prime Minister a happy 75th birthday and stated that under his leadership, India has become self-sufficient and strong. He emphasised that the country requires such strong leadership to fulfil its objective of a developed India by 2047.
Goyal praised Prime Minister Modi for historic reforms such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST), describing it as a milestone in the development of a self-reliant economy. He stated that the implementation of GST reforms before the Navratri celebration provided relief to citizens, strengthened the economy, and raised living standards for the middle and lower middle classes.
He highlighted Modi’s commitment to the welfare of the poor, youth, women, and farmers, citing numerous initiatives to empower the underprivileged. On his birthday, PM Modi launched the month-long ‘Swasth Nari, Sasakth Parivar’ campaign in Madhya Pradesh to enhance women’s and children’s healthcare.
Goyal expressed optimism that these measures will increase purchasing power, attract investment, expand trade, generate employment, and lower healthcare costs.
