PM Modi Receives Operation Sindoor-Themed Welcome in Rio de Janeiro

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on a four-day official visit to attend the 17th BRICS Summit. He was greeted warmly by the Indian diaspora, who performed a cultural dance titled ‘Operation Sindoor’ to the song ‘Saugandh Mujhe Iss Mitti Ki,’ which honours the Indian military. Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir in response to the April 22 terror incident in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 innocent lives.

A Brazilian music group also performed devotional music based on India’s cultural and spiritual values. PM Modi interacted with members of the Indian community, who were excited about his visit.

PM Modi will discuss global issues such as peace and security, responsible artificial intelligence use, climate action, multilateralism, global health, and economics at the 17th BRICS Leaders’ Summit. Furthermore, he is scheduled to attend several bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the summit.

PM Modi will also travel to Brasilia to meet with Brazilian President Lula to discuss the expansion of strategic partnerships in commerce, defence, technology, agriculture, energy, space, and health.
