The United State’s President calls for a $100 vaccine incentive

On Thursday, the president of the United States, Joe Biden has offered residents $100 cash payment to newly vaccinated to address flagging jab rates amid virus surges. Biden administration to push to get Americans vaccinated after the sudden surge in coronavirus cases in the U.S. the highly contagious delta variant is seen throughout the country.

In Biden’s speech on Thursday afternoon from White House, he cited research from the University of California, Los Angeles shows roughly one-third of unvaccinated individuals said a cash payment would make them likely to get the jab.

The American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding will provide $100 to anyone who gets vaccinated. To increase vaccination rates ARP provides state, territories, and localities resources that can be used to offer incentives. The administration should be provided with federal workers’ vaccination status as proof or submit to a series of rigorous safety protocols. The other steps are also aimed at increasing the rate of inoculations.

According to the federal health official, the initiative is taken after seeing the spike in delta variants in the country. The infected person carries up to 1,000 times more viruses in their nasal passage than other strains. This leads to higher transmissibility even amongst the vaccinated people.
