Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal Launches Export Promotion Mission to Boost MSME Exports and Strengthen Global Competitiveness

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal launched seven new interventions under the Export Promotion Mission (EPM), a flagship initiative aimed at empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to expand globally. The initiative focuses on addressing structural challenges, promoting inclusive export growth and strengthening India’s global trade competitiveness. Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal was also present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion of World Day of Social Justice, Goyal emphasised that true social justice lies in inclusive growth and uplifting the most marginalised sections of society. He highlighted India’s growing leadership in emerging technologies and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for positioning the country at the forefront of global discussions on artificial intelligence and innovation.

The Minister noted that India’s expanding network of Free Trade Agreements has significantly improved market access, covering nearly 70% of global GDP. He added that the EPM will simplify processes, improve access to credit, strengthen compliance capabilities, and enhance logistics infrastructure. Key initiatives include export factoring support, e-commerce credit facilities, logistics assistance, and compliance enablement.

With 10 of 11 planned interventions now operational, the Mission aims to reduce trade barriers and enable MSMEs, startups, and entrepreneurs to access new markets, reinforcing India’s position as a competitive global export hub.
