Canada, Cuba and the United States have secured places at the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Cup after finishing on the podium at the NORCECA Men’s Volleyball Continental Championship in Moncton, Canada. The tournament concluded on September 16, with the three teams taking the continental qualification spots available.
The United States won the championship after beating Canada 3-2 in the gold-medal match. The Americans took the first two sets 25-19 and 26-24 before Canada responded by winning the next two 27-25 and 25-17. The United States then secured the title with a 15-13 victory in the deciding set.
The result gave the United States its 11th NORCECA men’s continental title. Matt Anderson and Jake Hanes scored 18 points each for the American side. Canada’s Xander Ketrzynski finished as the match’s leading scorer with 26 points.
Cuba claimed the final World Cup place after defeating the Dominican Republic in straight sets in the bronze-medal match. Cuba won 25-22, 25-19 and 26-24 to finish third in the championship.
The 2027 World Cup will be held in Poland. The United States, Canada and Cuba secured NORCECA’s three available places at the tournament. The American team also has another Olympic opportunity ahead, with the NORCECA Olympic Qualification Tournament in Moncton determining the region’s berth for the Los Angeles 2028 Games. Canada, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Mexico will compete for the single Olympic place on September 18 and 19.
