Vietnam and Finland have expanded their bilateral relations through a series of cooperation agreements signed during Party Chief To Lam’s official visit to Helsinki. The visit coincided with the promotion of Vietnam-Finland relations to a strategic partnership, marking the turning point in their long-standing diplomatic relationship.
Viettel Group and Finland’s ICEYE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on Earth observation satellite research and development. Viettel also signed an MOU with Nokia Corporation to accelerate digital transformation, with a focus on 5G/6G networks, Open RAN, AI, and data centre applications. Meanwhile, state-owned VNPT signed an agreement with Nokia to expand its radio access network in Hanoi, southern provinces, and border regions in 2025-2026. VNPT also collaborated with F-Secure Group to improve cybersecurity and safeguard citizens from online dangers in the Asia-Pacific area.
In aviation, Vietjet Aviation JSC partnered with Airways Aviation Group to train professional workers for the international aviation industry. During his visit, To Lam met with Finnish business leaders and highlighted the two countries’ strong trade and investment links. Finnish officials recognised Vietnam as a rapidly expanding market, highlighting prospects in digitalisation, renewable energy, and green technology.
