Malaysia and India are set to elevate their bilateral relations to a more strategic and comprehensive level, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced. He revealed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had personally called him to discuss plans to strengthen collaboration between Putrajaya and New Delhi.
Anwar stated that India is an important partner for Malaysia, particularly in commerce, investment, and technology. The two presidents also talked about expanding collaboration in education and regional security, indicating a growing alignment between the two countries in critical strategic sectors.
The Malaysian leader, who also serves as Finance Minister, stated that the discussion focused on the upcoming 47th ASEAN Summit, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur later this month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend virtually as the meeting coincides with Deepavali celebrations in India.
Anwar praised PM Modi’s decision and sent his festive greetings to him and the people of India. He emphasised Malaysia’s commitment to deepening its alliance with India and increasing ASEAN-India collaboration to promote regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
