Caitlin Clark, the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Division I women’s single-season and career scoring record-breaker, clinched her second consecutive Naismith National Player of the Year Award.
The senior from Iowa was given the honour in Cleveland prior to her team’s trip to the Final Four. Stanford’s Cameron Brink, UConn’s Paige Bueckers, and USC’s JuJu Watkins were among the nominees.
Clark acknowledged gratitude while highlighting the importance of competing for her team in the Final Four. With 32 points, nine assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game, she is leading the nation in points. Throughout her four-year career, she has earned 3,900 points, with 1,183 points this season.
Along with Breanna Stewart of UConn, Clark is one of the few women’s basketball players to have won two Naismith trophies. After recovering from an injury, Buecker averages 22 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. With 27.1 points, USC’s Watkins set a freshman scoring record, and Stanford’s Brink finished with 17.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and a league-high 3.7 blocks per game. In the upcoming match, UConn will be facing Iowa.
