Based in Bangalore, ARTIST was established in 2005 with a goal to further improve the abilities of the obstetricians & gynecologists in India. Through their program KAPs (Knowledge, Aptitude & Practices), they gathered information regarding capabilities & competencies of Obstetrics & Gynecologists (ObGyns) in India & found several gaps in the quality of services and availability of ObGyns. Therefore, ARTIST came up with an innovative solution to fill them up by training, teaching, and more research to put up a better wellness and healthcare system in place.

ARTIST’s primary objective is to prioritize maternal and child healthcare throughout the country. They understand that this can be achieved by ensuring that the medical workers at the forefront are effectively skilled to carry out various medical procedures and advise on after-care too. For this purpose, the team at ARTIST resolved to have a sturdy skill transfer system which enhanced the capabilities of the doctors. Dr. Divakar, through the programs & initiatives of her organization, seeks to minimize the rate of mortality and improve critical health indices.

Kick-started in Bengaluru, Karnataka, by focusing on research, development, and trainings, ARTIST marked its first phase of skill development. Through its collaborations within the circle of healthcare workers in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka, the ball got rolling soon. Till date, the organization has trained 40 batches of medical aid staff which include 1494 health care providers. Achieving this is no mean feat as ARTIST has done this in a considerably short span of time. It now has a cent percent trained staff which is equipped to deliver reproductive, maternal, newborn & child health (RMNCH) services. Speaking of a nationwide movement, ARTIST has outstretched its arms to the interiors of Rajasthan & Assam & imparts training through ARTIST Skill Gurukool to the paramedics & health care providers there. Besides these, it is also looking to spread its wings to other zones in India.

ARTIST is armed with its passion and commitment towards reaching out to every woman & make preventive healthcare available to them & protect them against illnesses. They have established Health & Wellness Centers (HWCs) in as per the guidelines of – Ayushman Bharat, a flagship scheme of the Indian government’s National Health Policy. Through the HWCs, ARTIST finds & partners with medical experts to provide knowledge & its implementation. Besides, it looks into expanding logistics & providing medicines in far-flung areas. All this is done through a robust infrastructure & an IT system in place. Through its initiative, the institute aims to skill at least 1 million health care providers by the year 2022. With extensive training being provided to doctors, nurses & midwives, it is optimistic about the positive changes they can bring about in the country. The institute encourages people from all walks of life to join them as partners in their movement to promote healthcare & wellness & catalyze the process of creating awareness and impact, both locally & globally.
