Dubai International Airport Welcomes Record-Breaking 92 Million Passengers in 2024

Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest international airport, has reached a new record of 92 million passengers in 2024, representing a remarkable 6% rise from the previous year. This feat demonstrates Dubai’s robust post-pandemic recovery and ongoing prominence as a worldwide aviation hub. Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, celebrated the milestone on social media, noting that DXB had also registered 440,000 air movements, with 106 airlines linking the city to 272 destinations in 107 countries.

DXB is the world’s busiest airport for the tenth year in a row, having handled over 700 million passengers in just the last decade. Looking ahead, Dubai Airports plans to invest AED 128 billion ($34.8 billion) over the next ten years to improve its aviation infrastructure and passenger experience. This initiative intends to boost Dubai’s standing in the global aviation industry by consolidating its leadership in connectivity, efficiency, and innovation.

In line with this expansion, Dubai is expanding Al Maktoum International Airport with a $35 billion terminal project. The expansion, scheduled for completion in 2034, will boost the airport’s capacity to 150 million passengers per year, eventually making it Dubai’s major airport and cementing the city’s position as a global aviation leader.
