The Esports World Cup Foundation has announced a record-breaking prize fund of more than $70 million for the 2025 Esports World Cup, which will take place in Riyadh from July 7 to August 24. The prize fund, which is the largest in esports history, emphasises the tournament’s importance as a major global competition while also ensuring the industry’s long-term growth.
The prize fund has expanded by $10 million since last year’s debut event, demonstrating the foundation’s commitment to providing solid career paths for individuals and teams. The organisers emphasised that the expansion is consistent with their objective for long-term esports development. CEO Ralf Reichert emphasised the tournament’s importance in driving investment and growth throughout the gaming sector.
The 2025 edition will include 25 tournaments over 24 titles, including new entries such as chess, Crossfire, and Valorant. More than 2,000 professional players and 200 top clubs are anticipated to compete, making it the largest multi-title esports event ever.
A large percentage of the prize pool ($27 million) will be distributed through the EWC Club Championship, with the winner club receiving $7 million. Last year’s champions, Team Falcons, hope to defend their crown, while runner-up Team Liquid pursues victory.
