A graduate of the esteemed Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum inaugural program for young business leaders, Mr. Gergawi possesses a bachelor’s degree from the United Arab Emirates University. Mr. Gergawi began working at the Exhibition Department of the Dubai World Trade Centre in 1994 after graduating in communications from the UAE University. The following year, he was appointed as the Executive Director for Trade and Industrial Development at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. While holding that position until 2004, Mr. Gergawi was instrumental in the establishment of several of Dubai’s early business councils and groupings. Along with promoting business prospects in Dubai in several trade and economic forums and on foreign missions, he played a significant role in assisting the members of the Chamber in growing their businesses abroad. Mr. Gergawi worked for Dubai Holding as the Executive Director (International Business Development) for the Dubai Properties Group from 2004 to 2008. He successfully opened up new markets for DPG and attracted a variety of foreign companies, partners, and investors to the group’s projects. At present, Mr. Gergawi is putting Dubai firmly on the map of Foreign Direct Investment by drawing in both domestic and foreign investors to take advantage of opportunities in the Emirate’s many industries and subsectors, as well as forging closer ties with crucial international investment partners.
