India Breaks Record for Most 200-Plus Totals in T20 Cricket

With a convincing 133-run victory over Bangladesh in Hyderabad, India created history by becoming the men’s T20 cricket team with the most 200-plus totals ever. After scoring an incredible 297/6, India has surpassed Somerset with 37 such totals.

With 111 runs off of just 47 balls, Sanju Samson, the game’s star, became the first wicketkeeper-batter in Indian history to hit a century in T20I cricket. At a scorching strike rate of 236.17, he smashed eight sixes and eleven fours during his innings. Samson’s T20I century is the second fastest by a player who is a full member of the team, after 35-ball centuries by David Miller and Rohit Sharma.

With a combination of unorthodox and classic shots, India’s top order, led by the captains Suryakumar Yadav and Samson, overpowered Bangladesh. With Samson’s forceful blows and Yadav’s unorthodox play, the crowd was left in complete amazement and the opposition stunned.

The hosts’ aggressive style under coach Gautam Gambhir was made clearer when they raced to 82/1 in the first six overs, matching their greatest powerplay score. India’s T20 history reached a new height on this momentous evening, solidifying their supremacy in the competition.
