India defeat Bangladesh, win inaugural edition of Under-19 Women’s Asia Cup

India defeated Bangladesh by 41 runs in the final to win the first-ever Women’s U-19 Asia Cup. The match took place on Sunday at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

India’s Batting Performance

After losing the toss, India was sent in to bat. Despite a shaky start, Gongadi Trisha delivered a standout performance. Opening the innings, she scored a vital 52 off 47 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes.

Other contributions came from Mithila Vinod, who added momentum with a quick 12-ball 17. However, most Indian batters struggled, and the team posted 117/7 in 20 overs.

For Bangladesh, fast bowler Farjana Easmin shone with figures of 4-0-31-4. Nishita Akter Nishi supported her well, picking two key wickets to keep the Indian batters in check.

Bangladesh’s Chase Falls Short

Chasing 118, Bangladesh started cautiously but faltered under pressure. Openers Fahomida Choya (18) and Juairiya Ferdous (22) showed some resistance. However, captain Sumaiya Akter was dismissed by Sonam Yadav, who claimed two wickets alongside Parunika Sisodia.

Aayushi Shukla, India’s top wicket-taker in the tournament, stole the show with figures of 3.3-0-17-3. Her performance sealed the victory, ensuring Bangladesh was bowled out well short of the target.

India’s comprehensive win marked a historic moment in women’s cricket, highlighting the team’s rising dominance.
