Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is scheduled for a crucial three-day visit to Singapore from March 24 to 26, 2025, to strengthen marine cooperation between the two countries. His visit coincides with Singapore Marine Week, a major worldwide event to which he has been invited by the Singaporean government to engage in significant discussions about the future of marine trade.
Sonowal plans to attend high-level meetings with his Singaporean counterpart and other maritime officials. These discussions will primarily focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation and identifying potential prospects in the maritime sector. One of the highlights of his visit will be his participation in the debate “Navigating Global Maritime Trends in 2025 and Beyond,” which will bring together worldwide stakeholders to discuss the future of maritime trade and innovation.
During the tour, Sonowal will meet with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and other top officials to strengthen India’s maritime partnerships. He is set to meet with Brigit Gijsbers of the Netherlands to discuss deeper international collaborations. A crucial milestone will be the signing of a Letter of Intent for a Green Digital Shipping Corridor between India and Singapore, which would promote trade and sustainability.
