India Strike Archery Gold at Aichi Nagoya Asian Games 2026

India won the women’s compound team gold at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on September 30, defeating China 238-234 in the final. The victory gave India its first gold medal in archery at the 2026 Games.

The Indian team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep maintained the lead throughout the final. China started with three 9s, while all three Indian archers opened with 10s.

India held a three-point advantage at the halfway stage. China responded with a perfect 60 in the third end, but India stayed ahead with a score of 59.

The Indian team then finished strongly with a perfect 60 in the final end. Their overall score of 238 equalled the world record set by South Korea in 2014.

The gold also extended India’s run in the women’s compound team event. The country had won the title at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and successfully defended it in Aichi-Nagoya.

India had faced South Korea in the semi-final earlier on Wednesday. The defending champions secured a narrow 234-233 victory to reach the final.

Jyothi, one of India’s most experienced compound archers, won her fourth Asian Games gold with the result. For Chikitha and Prithika, the victory marked their first Asian Games gold medals.

Chikitha had topped the qualification round, while Prithika entered the Games as the 2025 Asian youth champion. The trio combined to deliver India’s seventh gold medal of the Games.
